Dealing With Adversity

Every great Army, Team, Company, Marriage or even Individual will have to deal with, and overcome adversity at one time or another. We make our plans and decide to move forward...and then WHAM! Something unexpected happens. Something that will force us to change our plans. We may have to improvise...make do....re-do....but most certainly someone will have to "step-up" and do something they were not planning to do.

It is called dealing with Adversity! You can give up OR step up! You can have faith in God to see you through it and give you strength...or you cry and complain that life is not fair. The latter reminds of the story I just read in the Bible.

This sense of urgent and sudden adversity is what the Prophet Elijah had to deal with in 1 Kings chapter 19. He has just come down from the mountain where he saw God show up and whip the Priests and followers of Baal. It was a huge victory.

Then WHAM...His own life is threatened, as a bounty is put out on his life by the wicked queen Jezebel. Elijah gets so scared and discouraged that he feels like the only thing to do is quit....he asks God to take His life. God then begins to show Elijah that although plans are not going the way he thought they should...God was still behind the scenes working and was completely in control. To see how this story ends....go read the chapter. It will take you less than 5 minutes...but will give you a completely different outlook on ANY adversity you are in right now or adversity that may hit you this week!
