Who Wants It More?

The marketing slogan for the National Football League this year is "Who Wants It More?"
The add goes like this:

Last years results don't matter.....

Being young or old does not matter.....

It is not the tallest or strongest....

It is not the smartest or most popular...

The championship this year will be decided by "Who Wants It More!"

The same is true with your ability to grow in Christ. To become a fully-devoted follower of Christ that wins at the game of life. The main thing that will determine your growth is how much do you really want to grow in Christ?

Every Thursday after their football practice I am involved with the Butler High Football team chapel. Both JV & Varsity are invited. Not all the players show up...however, the ones that do, really want to be there.

We are squeezed into a room and it is standing room only. It stinks like all high school football locker rooms do. The players are coming right from practice. It is normally very stuffy and not the best breathing air. There are no power-point presentations, no band, no chairs and no room to move.

However, those young men "want to be there!" They are not forced by the coach or parents. No one from the paper writes about it and the college scouts are not looking in. They want to be there for all that is good about youthful passion and zeal towards God.

How much do you want to grow? Is your discipleship and growth based on whether you have time, how busy you think you are, how good was the Sunday message and music, was the cafe coffee hot enough, did I have great parking and wonderful seating?

When it comes to growing spiritually:

If you grew up in church or not, does not matter....

What you used to do at the church, does not matter....

Am I rich or poor, does not matter.....

Are my needs getting met by my Home Team, does not matter....

Having a busy life with many kids, does not matter.....

The only thing that matters is "How Much Do You Want It?"
