Why Baptism?

If we are married we have a ring on our left index finger to show the world we are off the market. The ring is an outward sign of an inward commitment that we made on a specific and special day. If we win a championship we are given a trophy to symbolize what happened on the field at one specific time and place.

In many aspects of our lives we have outward symbols that represent something we have accomplished or taken part in. The Bible says the same thing about why a person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior should be baptized. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward commitment you have made in your heart. Moreover, it is a command in the Bible that once we have become a Christian, that we should follow through with "believers baptism."

The act of getting baptized does not have any special powers and it does not make you a Christian. It is a symbol. An important symbol, but still just a symbol of your hearts desires. If I lose my wedding ring....I don't stop being married. I am still married, just in trouble when I get home and tell Kelly that I have lost my ring! HA HA

At CSF we make our Baptism services very special and unique. Our next one will be at our Fellowship Service on November 14th. If you are a Christian and have never been baptized by immersion, then email rickf@charlottesouth.org.

Also, if you have further questions go to our web site and read about what we believe about baptism. It will be a great party! Come join the celebration!
