Abstinence On American Idol

I am embarrassed to admit that I actually watch American Idol. Their is something evil in me that loves watching people make fools of themselves on T.V. I roll laughing when these people actually think they can sing and they are horrible. Some of the people on there are faking and they know they stink and just want to get on T.V. ...those people are not funny.

Last night Idol was in South Carolina. Always a treat to see the locals there come out! However, one high school girl did have a good voice and she made an impression with her stance on "sex before marriage." She was the head of a club at her school that promotes and teaches her peers the physical and relational dangers of premarital sex.

When she mentioned this to the Simon, Paula and Randy.....they started laughing and making fun of her stance. Simon even asked her to give her speech to him. After she was done, they were still jeering with her amongst themselves and as she left, Simon says under his breath to the other two. "One week in L.A. and she will change her stance on that!" This is the sex saturated world we live in and if you have kids you know that you cannot protect them from being bombed with the images, ideas and pressures to indulge sexually before marriage.

We cannot keep the influence completely away, but we can prepare them to stand up for what is right, pure and best for them. Our CSF Student ministry is having our second annual "Not In Our House Weekend!" This is a great weekend experience for middle and high school kids to learn how to stand up to the sexual pressures they have every day and how to deal with the temptations they face. This two night and two day experience was a huge hit last year and all 102 kids loved it! They came away knowing what is best for them and how they can honor God with their bodies. Our leaders do a great job making it age appropriate for each student and most of the time the learning happens in small groups with kids their age.

If you have a middle or high school student then you should make sure they are a part of this life-changing weekend. Their is NOTHING better for your son or daughter to be doing that weekend. Contact our Student Ministry offices for more details. The weekend is February 15-17 and is only $35! We make sure this weekend is affordable for all....so that all can come and enjoy it!

Daily Bible Reading: Wow we finished the book of Luke! I hope that the power of the resurrection story inspires you to know that their is NOTHING you cannot do with the power of Christ living in you!
