Back To The Future

Do you know the history of our Christian faith? In chapter seven of Acts today we read about Stephen and how he gave a historical speech on the history of Christianity starting with God calling Abraham and telling him to go to the land of promise. From there Stephen gives the priests a crash-course in the major events that led to the crucifixion of Jesus at the hands of the very people Stephen is talking with at that moment. This truthful statement causes them to become furious and they stone Stephen to death.

Today's reading, coupled with a new leadership book I am reading about the life and times of Bo Schembechler, caused me to think ahead to our CSF history....go back to the future. Meaning, what will people be saying about CSF 35, 50 or 100 years from now?

Of course, we don't have a DeLorean time-machine to give us the exact details, but we do have a God given vision that is clear. Here are some things I believe will be a part of our historical future.

We will have a large campus here on the corner of Steven's Mill and Mt. Harmony Rd (with the 74 by-pass close by) that facilitates daily and weekly ministries. A campus that will have a designated building for Care Ministries like divorce care, addiction recovery, single parent help center, crisis pregnancy and adoption services to name a few.

We will have a state of the art gym and ball fields that will be open to the public and host city & public school leagues and the like. It will enable kids, teenagers and adults a place to recreate, have fun and impact their friends for Christ.

Our current building will one day be the place that is designated for our Middle and High School ministries to flourish as we open it up daily for Students to come and hangout, enjoy a video game area, do their homework and enjoy a coffee bar just for students. A great and safe place to be a teenager in our growing suburban area. Our current auditorium will be ideal for students to come experience their own services with a live band and technological arts all run by the students. A place where we can train and develop teenagers in music, video and other aspects of the arts.

We will have creatively designed areas for kids to play and learn on Sundays and other specified times during the week.

We will have a....this entry is getting too long! Tune in tomorrow for the rest of the ride into our future!
